Job description

Lead Front End Engineer

We are looking for a lead Front-end Software Engineer with modern Javascript and eCommerce experience to join our agile development team and help us shape our web UI and mobile experience strategy.

Everyone at Hip eCommerce takes creative initiative, helps set their own priorities, and comes up with new ways to grow our business. Our software engineers take great pride in creating outstanding software, but take even more pride in product ownership, bringing ideas from concepts, to MVPs, further iterations and beyond. This is a full-time, remote-based position, working approximately 9am to 5pm Eastern Time Mon-Fri.

About the Team

As a profitable, VC-backed company, this is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing team of 15 passionate, talented and experienced individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of our Agile, DevOps focused, distributed team building cloud-native applications.
  • Iteratively design, implement, and deliver software features for our existing and new code bases, and refactoring existing code to higher quality standards using modern best practices.
  • Apply your passion for clean, modern user interfaces, and a frictionless user experience building progressive web applications with service workers, modern tools, and language features.
  • Enhance existing and develop new public and internal-facing web applications using Vue.js and Vuetify.
  • Maintain feature test coverage across code bases to maintain high code quality using tools such as Jest and Selenium.
  • Participate in microservice design and development with Docker and Kubernetes.

About You

  • 5+ years of experience building and deploying web applications in an agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of web markup languages including HTML5 and CSS, along with an understanding of browser quirks and related skills needed to develop a robust and elegant front-end.
  • E-commerce experience and Payment processor experience strongly desired.
  • Full-stack experience is a plus.
  • A curiosity and ability to ramp up on new technologies quickly where appropriate.
  • Great communication skills, and a desire to collaborate across departments and with customers (2 to 5 years relevant experience, preferably in e-commerce).
  • Proven track record of leadership, taking ownership and driving results
  • Ability to develop and articulate strategy and perform tactically
